New Here? Please keep in mind that we are here to help you build a computer, not to build it for you. I like helping people on here. We all make mistakes, and I'm here to learn from each of you just as I'm here to help people. How ever it's a bit ludicrous how many people, especially tonight I see wanting 4GB variants of the 760.Simply put, the GTX 760 is not going to utilize more than 2GB of ram. It is perfectly geared for 1080p play, and 2GB is what it's designed to use. Here is a review for reference, skipping right to the firstIf all you want to do is game, the extra Vram is snake oil. Don't get fooled.EDIT: DeepThought brought up the point that additional VRAM might be utilized for SLI/Crossfire, especially at larger resolutions. Due to performance benefit between the cards, while VRAM isn't shared between the units.Arguably I'd presume it would take Tri-SLI 760's, or Dual-SLI770's to begin receiving any benefit, from my own experience, as well as referenced benchmarks.Regardless, most builds listed with additional VRAM are not prepared or intended for SLI use. The information in this OP is directed to you.EDIT 2:Ultra high resolution texture mods are the only current probable argument for a single GPU with additional VRAM.
Between scoping out builds for loved ones, helping people in, I've been up the walls and across the ceilings doing research.I've got a pretty good handle on the 700 series cards, especially the 760:).There's no excuse for anyone with a $1000 build not to have one he he.My current project is my gf's build.Starting with a 4670k, Z87-A, and F/D Define R4 White/Window. I'll get it set up and running, and complete the rest of the build a month or two now with that 760, an SSD, and a better cooler and PSU. An amazing white theme. Not sold on the RAM since I might spare 8gb out of my machine. I'd also like a smaller PSU but this is the highest quality white model I can find available. The goal is to make a build that costs less than half of mine, performs at least half as well, and has extremely high aesthetic value.I've also got a build lined up for someone when they get out of Military Training base in a few months before they go back to school.Inspired byThis is what IIn the end, I think the 760 is a wonderful card.Honestly my questions are about your ACX SC Model. How does the card perform to your expectations.
How loud is it under stressful load. What temp.
Does the GPU reach?. The card's great!
Honestly couldn't be happier. I expected to be able to play most of my games/any games I purchase in the foreseeable future, and I'm going to go and say that my expectations have been passed. I would have been happy with 60-90 fps and I'm hitting well over that.To be honest I don't think I've heard my gpu fan. Although that could be a result of me liking a lot of ambient noise, so between my 5 case fans running I don't notice. I would say it's pretty quiet. It's been a while since I've done temp tests.
But I dont think my card has ever been close to 60C during normal use, but I believe it got to something like 85-95C during Furmark. I believe on 1920x1080 with 8X MSAA. Something along those lines, I honestly don't remember too well. Did you use just a single 760 before going SLI? I have a 7870 right now and i'm not entirely convinces one 760 would be an upgrade, but two of them is feasible right now pretty easily.
I'm looking to build/buy sometime in march so i may wait to see if the 800(?)/maxwell series drops prices any more. ThanksEDIT: the reason i ask about SLI vs single too is because i game at 5760x1080. My 7870 now pulls like 45fps on ultra in Batman AC which i think is pretty damn good. But amd prices are too high now to pick up a second one. Or i may just get one r9 290 if prices come back down to where they should be.
Wow this got long sorry. Yeah, I had the one 760 before going to SLI. I imagine a 760 would perform 10-15% better than a stock 7870 (non GHz).
I realized that the 760 wouldn't bring me 60 fps @ ultra on BF4, so since I was upgrading mobo, cpu, psu, and case already, I decided to grab an SLI board and a 750w Gold PSU so I could pick up a second 760. No regrets at all, 70-120 fps on BF4 on full ultra 1080p. It's total overkill but it gives me so much head room, it's fantastic.7870 doing that for Eyefinity is actually pretty damn good.
I imagine SLI 760s would perform nicely at that resolution given that they're slightly better than a 780 / Titan. And hey, my reply is just as long:.
